Costume Rental Policy
Our Rental Policy
For all costume rentals, the following policies apply:
- We will rent to G & S or theatre groups in North America, not usually to individuals. The Victoria Gilbert and Sullivan Society has the right to restrict or refuse rentals.
- A refundable deposit equal to 1 week’s rental must be paid before any items will be shipped.
- A draft invoice (contract) will be sent to you, to be signed and returned with your deposit before items are shipped.
- Any “Victoria G & S” or “size labels” must be left in the costume. A $5 Fee will apply to each label which is missing at time of return. (Your own temporary name labels must also be removed – green masking tape works well.)
- Minor alterations to hems or simple seams are allowed, but must be reversed.
- Breakdown or major alterations are absolutely prohibited.
- Renters are responsible for any damages and agree to pay for damages and alterations not reversed prior to return.
- Costumes must be dry-cleaned before returning (bulk is OK in most cases), unless other instructions are given by the Society’s agent.
- Wigs must have all hairpins and other additions removed. Return wig “as is” for cleaning by Victoria G & S Society.
- Renters are responsible for all shipping, brokerage fees and insurance.
- All items must be insured in transit (Canada Post is the cheapest shipper and insurer).
- All items must be insured, and carefully handled during the entire period they are away from our warehouse, and in any location designated by the renter.
- Rental fees will be based on the length of your run, but will be shipped allowing 1 week extra for fittings and dress rehearsals, at no extra cost.
- Costumes must be returned promptly—shipped no more than 10 days after you close.
- Invoices will be calculated after costumes have been returned and inspected.
This policy is subject to change without notice. Changes are authorized by the Victoria Gilbert and Sullivan Society board.
